Red Zebra Broadcasting, LLC,  (a/k/a ESPN980)  has an immediate opening for an Entry Level Accountant.
The preferred candidate will have a degree in Accounting with 0-2 years of relevant experience. Must be
reliable, punctual and professional. 

Duties include the following:
 

Accounting Duties

  • Monthly customer billing
  • Enter daily cash receipts
  • Update and publish accounts receivable & aging
  • Process vendor invoices into AP system
  • Process cash disbursements
  • Fixed Asset tracking
  • Account reconciliation
  • Maintain accounting files
  • Participate in month end close
  • Special Projects as assigned

Other Duties:

  • Coordinate/track health insurance
  • Order/maintain office supplies
  • Open/close office facility
  • Liaison with building management
  • Oversee office equipment

Other  Skills:

  • Must be PC literate and have hands-on experience with MS Office.
  • Experience with QB’s or Peachtree is highly desirable
  • ADP experience  is also highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Radio Industry order entry software would be a big plus

Accounting Intern

 


Red Zebra Broadcasting, LLC , (a/k/a ESPN980) is a local DC sports marketing company and is searching for a student Intern currently enrolled at a local college and pursuing a degree and career in Accounting or Finance. This is a temporary, part time, nonpaying position and suited for an individual who wants to learn accounting basics in a professional fast paced work environment.  


This intern assignment will qualify for college credit towards the completion of the individual’s degree. The number of credit hours depends on the College/University degree requirements. You will work directly with the Corporate Controller, Finance staff and Chief Financial Officer.

Account Executive-Sports Talk Radio Sales

Red Zebra Broadcasting (a/k/a ESPN 980) is searching for experienced Account Executives to sell radio advertising. Red Zebra owns and operates four radio stations in the greater Washington DC area and located in Rockville, Maryland. We are seeking experienced Media Sales professionals who are capable of building client relationships and generating revenue from local and regional advertisers, as well as, advertising agencies. 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in advertising sales with an understanding of Sports Talk formats and personality driven content.  Our sales team sells advertising across popular sports talk shows to include, The Man Cave with Chris Paul and Jason Reid, The Tony Kornheiser Show, The Sports Fix with Thom Loverro and Kevin Sheehan, Inside the Locker Room with  “Doc” Walker and Brian Mitchell, and The Drive with Chris Cooley and Steve Czaban,as well as, a wide array of play-by-play sporting events including Washington Redskins Football, Baltimore Orioles Baseball, University of Maryland Football and Basketball, University of Virginia Football and Basketball and Others. Candidates must be self-starters with a consultative, proactive sales approach who can generate new business while expanding the existing installed base of client advertisers.



Responsibilities include:

1.    Job emphasis is on selling new business through cold calls and existing account lists.
2.    Proactively prospecting and qualifying potential new advertising accounts.
3.    Sell advertising and sponsorship opportunities on ESPN 980 and espn980.com.
4.    Present persuasive sales presentations to all levels of an organization.
5.    Successfully close accounts in excess of $50,000 annually.
6.    Attain Quota assignment in excess of $ 1 Million.



Requirements:

1.    Minimum of two to three years of advertising sales experience with proven success.
2.    Demonstrated strong sales and customer service skills.
3.    Superior verbal and writing communication abilities.
4.    Strong understanding of marketing dynamics including demographic and   
        psychographic targeting and branding positions.
5.    Results oriented, dedicated, accountable, strong work ethic, proven negotiation skills.
6.    Outstanding computer skills including solid knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
7.    A four year college degree, preferably in Marketing and/or Advertising.

Street Team Position


ESPN980 Street Team Member

ESPN 980 is in search of a few good all stars to join our street team! As an ESPN 980 street team member, you will serve as a brand ambassador and gain a first-hand perspective into the many aspects of the sports radio, marketing and advertising industries! This part-time position is perfect for those looking for experience in promotions & live events.
 
Responsibilities include:

Setting up event and staging elements, attending promotions which include Redskins Games, Remote Broadcasts, station events, and sales appearances.
Supporting programming staff during live broadcasts, listener interaction at all events.
 

Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age
Must be dedicated, hard-working, self motivated and open to learning new skills through hands-on experience.
Must apply creativity and initiative to all projects.
Clear verbal skills and an outgoing, adaptive personality are essential.
Knowledge of media, sports and entertainment industries is preferred.
Must have access to reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and a comfort level driving station vehicles, full-size SUV’s.   
Be able to lift at least fifty pounds and be able to learn how to set up station display materials.  
Be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Ability to work a minimum of ten to twelve hours a week during football season.  
Be able to work well in a team environment.

Client Services & Marketing Internship

Principal Job Functions:
The purpose of this internship is to give students an opportunity to learn and provide support in the day to day operations of the Marketing & Client Services department. Responsibilities may include designing and creating new sales materials, planning and assisting in the execution of station promotional events, supporting the sales and marketing teams, client and market research, and working at station remote broadcasts including home game dates. Interns may also work with clients on day to day projects involving game day marketing campaigns and on-air advertising.

Skills and Abilities Required:
Applicants must be dedicated, hard-working, self motivated and open to learning new skills through hands-on experience. Must apply creativity and initiative to all projects. Clear verbal, written and typing/computer skills are essential. Knowledge of media, sports and entertainment industries is preferred. Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word programs are used daily.

Requirements and Reporting Structure:
This is an unpaid internship and students must earn college credit. Students must be entering at least their junior year in college to be considered. The main office location of Red Zebra Broadcasting is in Rockville, MD and applicants must be able to provide their own transportation to the station as well as possible events at FedEx Field in Landover, MD or Redskins Park in Ashburn, VA.
