Red Zebra Broadcasting – VP of Finance


Under the direction of the President (Market Manager), this position is responsible for controlling and maintaining accurate, timely, clear, and concise financial information and overall management of the Accounting Department.  The position is also responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling the accounting system.  This is a “hands on” position as the successful individual is involved in performing payroll functions as well as preparation of financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement). This person would also be responsible for overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, fixed asset management and timely reporting of financial information. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Chief Financial Controller will monitor department controls, policies, and procedures and propose improvements when necessary.  They also serve as a resource in all aspects of accounting, including, but not limited to: 
·    Accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions.
·    Budgeting, general ledger, payroll, fixed asset management, etc.
·    A/P and A/R supervisor.
·    Latest trends and changes in the accounting and finance fields.
·    Performing various administrative functions for the Accounting department.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages and coordinates tax reporting requirements, prepares and files payroll taxes, works with external tax accountant to complete federal and state income tax returns, tracks and reports fringe benefit tax data (expense reimbursements, use of Company vehicles, etc.).
Manages and coordinates annual audits for both the NFL and the Red Zebra Board of Directors.

·    Completes financial analyses of Company cash flow, investment .strategies, banking relationships, debt management, etc. Develops and implements improvements as appropriate.
·    Manages the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts.
·    Processes payroll and completes financial statements in a timely manner.
·    Conducts month end closing activities
·    Performs credit worthiness evaluations on clients and potential clients.
·    Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with company personnel, departments, and management.
·    Aids in the continuing development of subordinate staff members and provides ongoing guidance, training and direction to developing and implementing the company’s objectives.
·    Responsible for working with the Market Manager to implement and manage systems and procedures to streamline all financial functions.

REQUIREMENTS
·         Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or similar.
·         Certifications and/or Licenses:  CPA required
·         Experience: 
o   Five to ten years in all aspects of accounting including at least two years in the top senior accounting position (i.e., Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar),
o    A minimum of three years experience in the radio or advertising industry is preferred.
o    Experience with multiple P&L companies and re-circulated and/or allocated costs.
                     Skill, Knowledge and Abilities:
·    Strong advanced mathematical skills; excellent computer knowledge including networks, Quickbooks, Microsoft Word®, Excel®, Outlook®, PowerPoint®, and web applications.
·    Strong leadership, communication (written and verbal), and teamwork related skills.
·    Functions independently.
·    Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs projects and resources.
·    Manages stressful situations with a positive, focused attitude.
·    Applies logical or scientific thinking to wide range of situations.
·    Deals with difficult or complex concepts or problems.

Interns will work on various multi-media tasks and projects dealing with ESPN980.COM and Redskins media. Internships will cater to the Intern's desired focus. Street Team Position

Do you eat, breathe, and sleep sports? Tired of the view from the sidelines, looking for a way to get inside the huddle? ESPN 980, home of the Washington Redskins, is in search of a few good all stars to join our street team! As an ESPN 980 street team member, you will gain a first hand perspective into the many aspects of the sports radio, marketing and advertising industries!    
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  1. Setting up event and staging elements, attending promotions which include Redskins Games, Remote Broadcasts, station events, and sales appearances.
  2. Supporting programming staff during live broadcast, and listener interaction.
  3. Assisting in the fulfillment of prize giveaways including mailing of prizes, sending names to will-call and handling of completion of release forms by required winners. 
  4. Communicating with station prize winners in coordinating prize pick-up hours, details of trip giveaways, tax issues, cash prizes via collective or local contesting, etc.
  5. Assisting with the coordination of promotional materials, Event Prep sheets on-air Contesting Sheets. 
  6. Updating station’s Winners database and organizing prize sheets.
 
Requirements:
 
  1. Must be dedicated, hard-working, self motivated and open to learning new skills through hands-on experience.
  2. Must apply creativity and initiative to all projects.
  3. Clear verbal, written and typing/computer skills are essential.
  4. Knowledge of media, sports and entertainment industries is preferred.
  5. Must have access to reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and a comfort level driving station vehicles.  
  6. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office software programs, with a strong emphasis on Power Point and Excel required. 
  7. Be able to lift at least fifty pounds and be able to learn how to set up station display materials. 
  8. Be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  9. Ability to work a minimum of ten to twelve hours a week during football season. 
  10. Be able to work well in a team environment.
  11. A winning personality!

Marketing and Client Services Internship

About Red Zebra Broadcasting:
Red Zebra Broadcasting is owned by RedZone Capital, LLC, which founded the company as a platform for the acquisition of radio, television, internet and other entertainment enterprises.  The company currently consists of thirteen radio stations, four in the Washington, D.C., market that operates under the banner of ESPN980, WXGI-AM in Richmond, VA, WXTG-FM in Norfolk, Virginia, and a series of music and talk radio stations in Virginia, giving Red Zebra a presence in four of the largest Virginia radio markets. Six of the thirteen Red Zebra stations are part of The Washington Redskins Radio Network and air a 24-hour sports talk format including “The Sports Reporters”. 

Principal Job Functions:
The purpose of this internship is to give students a unique opportunity to learn and provide support in the day to day operations of the Marketing & Client Services departments. Responsibilities may include designing and creating new sales materials, planning and assisting in the execution of station promotional events,  editing digital sound clips, supporting the sales and marketing teams, client and market research, and working at station remote broadcasts including home game dates and training camp. Interns may also work with clients on day to day projects involving game day marketing campaigns and on-air advertising. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn new broadcasting and marketing software.

Applicants must be dedicated, hard-working, self motivated and open to learning new skills through hands-on experience. Must apply creativity and initiative to all projects. Clear verbal, written and typing/computer skills are essential. Knowledge of media, sports and entertainment industries is preferred. Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word programs are used daily.

This is an unpaid internship and students must earn college credit. Students must be entering at least their junior year in college to be considered. Possible office locations include:
